Ropa is a rural municipality located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within Gorlice County, covering an area of 49.09 km². Its administrative seat is the village of Ropa, and according to data at the end of 2022, the municipality had 5,513 inhabitants, representing an increase of 10.1% compared to 2002. The land use structure of the municipality consists of 59% agricultural land and 34% forested areas. The municipality of Ropa was established on August 1, 1934, and has undergone numerous administrative reforms. After World War II, it became part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship, and over the years, it was repeatedly dissolved and reactivated. Finally, in 1991, the municipality was reinstated with a limited number of villages and gradually expanded to include new administrative units such as Klimkówka and Łosie. Neighboring municipalities include Gorlice, Grybów, and Uście Gorlickie. Ropa is known for its architectural and cultural traditions, including wooden churches and white houses with shingle roofs. The natural beauty of the municipality, including its forests and farmland, attracts tourists, offering them opportunities to connect with nature and explore local culture. The municipality also has a partnership with Hažlín in Slovakia, highlighting its openness to cross-border cooperation.
