Opatowiec, formerly known as the Rogów commune, is an urban-rural municipality located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Kazimierza County. Its administrative seat is the town of Opatowiec. Historically, from 1975 to 1998, the commune was part of the Kielce Voivodeship. According to data from the end of June 2018, the commune had a population of 3,267 residents, and its total area is 68.58 km², of which 83% is agricultural land and 9% is forested. In 2014, the commune published an illustrated monograph documenting its history, culture, and traditions. Additionally, in the village of Rzemienowice, a large settlement dating back approximately 2,000 years was discovered in 2017, a finding confirmed by aerial photography. Archaeological research in the area is being conducted by scholars from Jagiellonian University. The commune comprises several villages, including Charbinowice, Chrustowice, Chwalibogowice, Kamienna, and others. Opatowiec borders several neighboring communes: Bejsce, Czarnocin, Gręboszów, Kazimierza Wielka, Koszyce, Nowy Korczyn, Wietrzychowice, and Wiślica, making it an important hub in the region.
