Osielsko is a rural commune (gmina) in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Bydgoszcz County. The seat of the local government is the town of the same name, which, according to data from the end of 2019, had a population of 14,968. The commune covers an area of 102.89 km² and borders the cities of Bydgoszcz, Dobrcz, and Koronowo. Its development is supported by the national road No. 5 and the provincial road No. 244, which run through its territory. Osielsko is situated in picturesque mesoregions such as the Świecie Upland, the Brda Valley, the Toruń Basin, and the Fordon Valley, making it an attractive place to live. The commune is home to 28 natural monuments, highlighting its rich natural assets. Osielsko is a dynamically developing commune, with a significant population increase in the 21st century. Between 2004 and 2020, the population grew by 87.57%, demonstrating the area's appeal. The social structure of the commune is significantly influenced by four Roman Catholic parishes and a historical evangelical community, which had its own church in Osielsko until 1944. The architectural heritage of the commune includes landmarks such as the church complex in Osielsko, the wooden church in Żołędowo, and the manor and park complex in Żołędowo, which attract history and architecture enthusiasts. Osielsko is the wealthiest commune in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, a result of the high tax revenues from its residents. In 2015, planned PIT revenues were set at 24 million PLN. The commune also stands out for its dynamic infrastructure development – in 2014, 314 building permits were issued here, representing a significant increase compared to other communes in the county. The commune is divided into administrative units consisting of seven village councils (sołectwa) and several non-village settlements. Administratively, the commune is managed by a council composed of 15 councillors and the head of the commune (wójt), Wojciech Sypniewski, who has held this position since 1996. Osielsko is a place that combines tradition with modernity, boasting a rich history, cultural values, and natural assets, making it an attractive location for living and development.
