Ostrów Wielkopolski is a rural municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, located in the Ostrów district. As of the end of 2021, its population was 19,226 inhabitants. Covering an area of 207.86 km², the municipality has an agricultural and industrial character, with approximately 68% of its land being agricultural use. The municipality was established on January 1, 1973, from five smaller administrative units. An interesting aspect of its history is the presence of the villages Sobótka and Kwiatków, which were towns in the 15th–17th centuries. In 2017, the municipality had 5,599 hectares of forests, accounting for 26.9% forest cover, and its watercourses include the Kuroch, Niedźwiada, and Ołobok rivers. The area is also protected, featuring nature reserves and landscape protection zones. In terms of transportation, the municipality benefits from both road and rail networks, as well as the local airport of the Aeroklub Ostrowski. A notable statistic is the number of registered business entities in 2019, which stood at 1,971, reflecting the region's active economic life.
