wikipedia
Padniewko is a small village located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Mogilno district, bordering the town of Mogilno. The historical roots of the village date back to the 12th century, when a knight named Dobrogost from the Nałęcz family founded the Church of St. Clement, which later came under the jurisdiction of the Mogilno monastery. The village, historically known as Padniewo Klasztorne, became the property of the Benedictine abbot. In the 19th century, Padniewko was part of the Prussian Partition, and during the interwar period, it had an active farming community and German organizations, such as the Union of German Peasants. During World War II, the village experienced repression, and after the war, social activities returned to normal. Today, cultural life revolves around the village community center, with residents involved in the Rural Housewives' Circle and the Agricultural Circle. Padniewko is home to two grocery-hardware stores and a range of services, including a locksmith and a sheet metal workshop. The village also offers sports activities thanks to a full-size football pitch where amateur matches are played. An interesting architectural feature is the former primary school building, which now serves as the community center. One of the local curiosities is a statue of the Virgin Mary, where religious services are held, erected in the 19th century. The absence of a church in Padniewko makes this statue an important place of worship. The village is also known for its tourist attractions, including the proximity of Lake Wienieckie and Lake Wiecanowskie, which supports the development of tourism. In 2005, Padniewko became the starting point of a local cycling race, attracting athletes and enthusiasts of active recreation. Today, the village is becoming a suburb of Mogilno, attracting residents and businesses from the town.
