wikipedia
Plewiska is a village in Poland, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, adjacent to the city of Poznań. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when it was mentioned in a document by Duke Władysław Odonic. Plewiska was once the property of the bishops of Poznań, and its founding charter was granted by Bishop Jan Łodzia in 1335. In the 19th century, the estate was purchased by merchant Józef Freudenreich, who built a manor house and an English-style park. Their former manor complex, including a distillery and a brickyard, is now part of the cultural heritage, and the park was revitalized and opened to residents in 2015. Plewiska also features modern infrastructure, including the "Nowy Rynek" shopping and service center and numerous supermarkets. The village offers good transportation connections, including bus services and proximity to major national roads and the A2 highway. In terms of culture, it boasts a well-developed public library, a cultural center, and the activity of local groups such as the "Plewiszczoki" band, which organizes numerous cultural events. Plewiska also hosts an organ music festival. Interestingly, in the 21st century, Plewiska is increasingly gaining importance as a commuter town for residents of Poznań, contributing to the growing urbanization of the village.
