wikipedia
Płośnica is a rural commune located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in Działdowo County, with its administrative seat in the town of Płośnica. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Ciechanów Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the commune had a population of 5,908, and as of December 31, 2019, this number had decreased to 5,604 residents. The commune covers an area of 163.09 km², of which 73% is agricultural land and 18% is forested land, reflecting its agricultural character and rich woodland areas. It constitutes 16.91% of the total area of Działdowo County. Płośnica and its surroundings are characterized by the typical landscape of the Warmian-Masurian region, which supports various forms of outdoor activities and tourism. The commune includes several village administrative units (sołectwa), featuring rural settlements with traditional architecture that have preserved many attributes of local building styles. An interesting fact is the existence within the commune of Mały Łęck – a settlement without the status of a village administrative unit. Neighboring communes include Działdowo, Kuczbork-Osada, Lidzbark, and Rybno, enabling residents to interact and collaborate with nearby communities. Despite its smaller population, Płośnica holds a unique place in the region's history, with a rich tradition of agriculture and forestry that also influences local culture. Another notable aspect is the relatively low decline in population over the years, which may indicate the social stability of this rural commune.
