wikipedia
Płudy is a neighborhood in northern Warsaw, within the Białołęka district, located west of the E65 railway line. According to the Municipal Information System, the area is considered part of Henryków, although Henryków itself is a separate, smaller unit. Płudy is bordered to the east by Dąbrówka Grzybowska and other residential areas, while to the west it adjoins the forest complex Uroczysko Las Henrykowski. The neighborhood features the multi-family housing estate Płudy Village as well as single-family homes. Transportation in Płudy is provided by bus line 152 and the Warszawa Płudy railway station, served by the Warsaw Rapid Urban Railway. The area also boasts a historic summer villa, "Świdermajer," built in the early 20th century in the Nadświdrzański style, as well as the parish Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, constructed between 1908 and 1913 in the Neo-Gothic style. The history of Płudy dates back to the 18th century, when a tavern affiliated with the village of Dąbrówka was located here. In the 20th century, the station of the Vistula Railway and the philanthropic efforts of Krzysztof Kiersnowski, who brought the Sisters of the Holy Family of Mary to Płudy and donated land for the construction of the church, played significant roles in the area's development. In the 1950s, Płudy was incorporated into Warsaw's city limits, and a former marmalade factory was converted into a fruit and vegetable processing plant, now operating as Smurfit Kappa Warszawa. Today, Płudy is a place rich in history and diverse architecture, with numerous cultural attractions and historic sites that draw both residents and tourists.
