The commune of Pozezdrze, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in Węgorzewo County, is an interesting place with a rich history and diverse demographic structure. The seat of the commune is the village of Pozezdrze, which in the past belonged to various administrative units, including the Suwałki Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998, and then to Giżycko County until 2001. The commune covers an area of 177.3 km², of which 48% is agricultural land and 27% is forest land. As confirmed by the numbers, the population of the commune was 3,575 in 2004 and dropped to 3,253 in 2019. Pozezdrze is characterized by diverse village districts, such as Gębałka, Harsz, and Jakunówko, as well as smaller localities, including Okowizna and Dziaduszyn. The commune is surrounded by other communes: Banie Mazurskie, Budry, Giżycko, Kruklanki, and Węgorzewo, which fosters cultural integration and local cooperation.
