Proszowice

Proszowice is a town in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, situated on the right bank of the Szreniawa River. Its history dates back to the Neolithic era, with the first written records originating from the 12th century, when the area was inhabited by Slavs. The town was granted municipal rights in 1358, and by the 15th century, it had become a significant trading center. During the Middle Ages, it flourished thanks to local crafts, and its municipal privileges and weekly markets contributed to its rapid development. Proszowice was the site of regional assemblies (sejmiki) for the Kraków Voivodeship until the partitions of Poland.
