wikipedia
The Radziejowice Palace and Park Complex, located in the Żyrardów County, is a site of rich history, captivating architecture, and significant cultural importance. The original residence of the Radziejowski family dates back to the 15th century when a residential tower was erected. Over the centuries, particularly in the 17th century, the complex was expanded, with the most substantial changes made by Stanisław Radziejowski and later by Hieronim and Michał Radziejowski, which influenced its architectural evolution. The current palace, built in the classicist style between 1784 and 1802 on the foundations of earlier structures, features an elegant columned portico and a terrace. The park surrounding the palace, created in the 19th century, spans 26 hectares and is designed in the English landscape style. It includes a lime tree avenue, an ash tree avenue, and specimens of rare trees such as the ginkgo biloba, making it a natural oasis. The Little Castle, a neo-Gothic reconstruction of a defensive tower from 1802, has served various functions and now houses the palace kitchen and historical apartments. The manor, once the administrator's residence, and the 19th-century forge, adapted to modern needs, offer hotel rooms and spaces for workshops and conferences. The complex also attracts artists; since 1965, it has functioned as a creative retreat, enabling cultural figures like Jerzy Waldorff to work in an inspiring environment. Among its historical highlights, the palace hosted meetings with kings such as Sigismund III Vasa and Władysław IV Vasa, as well as renowned cultural personalities like Juliusz Kossak and Henryk Sienkiewicz. After World War II, the palace declined in significance, but thanks to museum efforts and revitalization, it regained its splendor and became a venue for cultural events, including concerts and lectures by the Wajda School. Additionally, the park hosts sculpture exhibitions, enriching the artistic offerings of this unique place. Thus, Radziejowice is not only a historic complex but also a vibrant cultural hub that blends history with modernity, creating an inspiring space for artists and visitors alike.
