wikipedia
Redzikowo, previously known as the Słupsk Commune, is located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Słupsk County. In 2023, it was renamed Redzikowo to establish its own distinct brand and identity. The commune covers an area of 260.58 km², of which 62% is agricultural land and 28% is forested. As of 2023, it was home to 14,252 residents. Its main administrative seat was Słupsk—a city with county rights, which is not part of the commune. That same year, part of the commune's territory was incorporated into Słupsk, and the city plans further expansion into the commune's areas. Redzikowo Commune consists of numerous village districts (sołectwa), such as Bierkowo, Strzelino, and Redzikowo, as well as non-administered settlements like Gać Leśna and Łupiny. Nature conservation is implemented within the Słupia Valley Landscape Park, which forms a significant part of the local natural heritage. The commune borders other municipalities, including Damnica, Dębnica Kaszubska, and Kobylnica. An interesting feature is the Słupsk-Krepa Airport located within its territory, which enhances transportation accessibility and supports potential tourism development. It is worth noting that the commune's history spans many years and is closely tied to administrative changes and the growth of the local community.
