Rejowiec is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within the Chełm County. Its administrative seat is the town of Rejowiec, which regained its town rights in 2017, transforming the municipality from rural to urban-rural. Historically, before January 1, 2006, the municipality was part of the Krasnystaw County. In 2004, the municipality had a population of 6,763 and covered an area of 106.25 km², of which 63% was agricultural land and 24% forested. Rejowiec, its villages, and surroundings are rich in history, dating back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland when it belonged to Chełm County in the Lublin Governorate. A notable historical fact is that in 1870, the town of Rejowiec, which had been stripped of its town rights, was incorporated into the municipality. The municipality is home to many villages, such as Adamów, Elżbiecin, and Niedziałowice, which preserve their local character and traditions. The Arian Trail runs through Rejowiec, making it an interesting destination for tourists. Residents cherish local culture, which is reflected in the organization of cultural and social events aimed at fostering community integration and developing local identity. Covering 9.34% of the county's area, the municipality boasts natural and architectural diversity, as well as a unique cultural heritage that holds significance for the region.
