wikipedia
Rożnowice, formerly known as Rozembark, is a village in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Gorlice County, within the administrative district of Biecz. The history of the settlement dates back to 1354, when its original name, Nemcyno, was mentioned, associated with German settlement. The German population in the region contributed to changes in the names of localities; for example, in a document from 1388, it appears as Rosinberg, and after World War II, it was transformed into Rożnowice. From 1975 to 1998, the village belonged to the Krosno Voivodeship. Among its historic landmarks is the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle, a wooden structure built between 1756 and 1764, which features a richly decorated interior with 18th-century polychrome. Unfortunately, in 1992, the church was damaged in a fire, but the tower was rebuilt between 2010 and 2011. Also noteworthy is a farmstead relocated to the Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok and a World War I military cemetery. The village is home to numerous chapels, with the oldest one dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk from 1745. Rożnowice also has a school and kindergarten complex and a fire station housing the Volunteer Fire Department (OSP). The Parish of St. Andrew the Apostle in Rożnowice also serves believers from neighboring villages. The village is situated in the valley of the Sitniczanka stream, surrounded by the hills of the Ciężkowice Foothills, making it an attractive destination for lovers of beautiful landscapes. The village combines rich history, wooden architecture, and local traditions, making it an interesting point on the map of Lesser Poland.
