wikipedia
Ruch Chorzów, founded on April 20, 1920, in Hajduki (now Chorzów Batory), is one of the most decorated Polish football clubs, with 14 Polish championship titles and three Polish Cups. The club has deep roots in the Upper Silesia region, reflected in its minority traditions and symbolism, such as the attachment to blue and white colors, which reference local heritage. The stadium at Cicha Street 6, opened in 1935, currently holds 9,300 spectators and once hosted 55,000 fans, demonstrating the demand for local sporting events. The club's fervent fan culture is visible in the active participation of supporters, who express their identity by displaying Upper Silesian flags and organizing match-day displays. Ruch maintains good relations with several clubs through formal "friendships" (zgody) and also engages with the cultural sphere, collaborating on events with public figures who support the team. Historically, Ruch Chorzów was a pioneer in Polish football, participating in competitions from the very beginning and introducing many innovative approaches. Interestingly, the club faced significant financial difficulties, leading to its restructuring in 2017 and three relegations in recent years. Ruch also boasts a rich history of international appearances, including as a quarterfinalist in the Champions League (European Cup) in 1975 and in the UEFA Cup. Today, after promotion to the I liga in the 2022/2023 season, the club is focused on rebuilding its stature in Polish football.
