The Rudna Commune, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship within the Lubin County, boasts a rich history as well as valuable natural and cultural assets. The Skarpa Storczyków Nature Reserve protects fragments of deciduous forests that are home to rare and protected plant species. According to demographic data, the commune had a population of 7,079 in 2004, which increased to 7,794 by 2020. The commune covers an area of 216.6 km², of which 52% is agricultural land and 34% is forested land. Historically, the Rudna Commune was established after World War II as part of the Recovered Territories. In 1946, it became part of the newly created Wrocław Voivodeship. It underwent a series of administrative reforms, including its abolition in 1954 and reinstatement in 1973. The commune consists of 18 villages, including Brody, Rudna, and Stara Rudna. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Legnica Voivodeship, and in 1999 it returned to Lubin County within the newly established Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The commune's partner municipalities are Oybin and Rudná, with cooperation established in 2003 and 2009, respectively. An interesting fact is that in 1996, a sanitary and operational landing site was opened in Orsk, owned by Pol-Miedź Trans. Neighboring municipalities include Grębocice, Jemielno, Lubin, Niechlów, Pęcław, Polkowice, Wińsko, and Ścinawa, highlighting the commune's role as a center connected with the regional surroundings.
