Rybno

Rybno is a village located in the Masovian Voivodeship, in the Sochaczew County, with a rich history dating back to the 14th century. The first mention of the settlement comes from 1368, and its original owners were the Rybiński family, who had a significant influence on the local history and culture. In the 17th century, Rybno passed into the hands of the Zabłocki family, who greatly contributed to the development of the village. By inviting German colonists, they introduced new forms of farming and construction, and also contributed to the building of the first classicist-style brick church, which was constructed between 1804 and 1817. This church, with its 19th-century wooden altars and rich decoration, is one of the main landmarks of Rybno. Additionally, in the center of the village, there is a 19th-century bell tower and a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the 19th century, Rybno flourished thanks to Cyprian Zabłocki, known for the anecdote about soap and his efforts to develop the estate. After World War II, the manor in Rybno fell into ruin, but in recent years it has been partially restored by the State Archaeological Museum. Rybno is also a place of vibrant cultural activity, where local initiatives, such as the Community of the Sisters of Merciful Jesus, emphasize the spiritual dimension of the village. In 2023, a new Health Center was built, and the Zygmunt Pruski Primary School cultivates traditions of secret teaching from the times of World War II. In the parish cemetery, there is a military section where soldiers who died in 1939 are buried, as well as a mound commemorating the victims of World War I. Rybno fascinates not only with its architectural heritage but also with its rich history, making this village an interesting point on the map of Masovia, full of local legends and traditions.
