wikipedia
Rypin is a city in Poland, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, with a rich history dating back to the 11th century. The city is situated on the communication route from Kuyavia to Warmia and from Pomerania to Masovia, on the Rypienica River. In the past, Rypin was a royal city and the capital of a castellany. Today, the city features many interesting architectural monuments, including the Gothic Holy Trinity Church, the Neo-Gothic Evangelical-Augsburg Church, and the Chapel of St. Barbara. It is worth noting the fragments of medieval defensive walls and tenement houses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Rypin also offers a diverse cultural scene; it is home to the Museum of the Dobrzyń Land, various artistic groups, and hosts events such as the Balloon Festival and the Rypin Run for Health. The city also has a rich religious tradition, with churches of various denominations, including Catholic, Evangelical, and Orthodox. Since 2010, the patron saint of the city has been St. John the Baptist, and Rypin Day is celebrated on June 24, the anniversary of the granting of city rights. Rypin also has its own symbols, coats of arms, and colors that residents can take pride in. An interesting fact worth mentioning is that there was once a saying, "Szlachcic spod Rypina" (a nobleman from near Rypin), which referred to an uncultured person. As of the end of 2022, Rypin had a population of 15,514, and the city faces demographic challenges that may impact its development. With its rich history and architecture, Rypin is also a commercial and service center, and its road and rail transport ensures the region's accessibility.
