Rzeczyca is a rural municipality located in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the Tomaszów County, with its administrative seat in the village of Rzeczyca. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Piotrków Voivodeship. It covers an area of 108.29 km², of which 75% is agricultural land and 17% is forested. In 2004, the municipality was home to 5,041 people. Rzeczyca and its neighboring villages are characterized by traditional rural architecture, with single-family homes reflecting the local building style. The municipality includes several village administrative units, such as Bartoszówka, Brzeg, Glina, and Rzeczyca itself, as well as settlements without such status, like Brzeziny or Tłumy. Rzeczyca and its surroundings boast rich cultural traditions tied to the inhabitants of the Tomaszów region, which are evident in local events, festivals, and folk celebrations. Elements of folklore, which form part of the cultural heritage, can also be encountered in the area.
