wikipedia
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Dzików, located in Tarnobrzeg, is a historic Baroque church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, along with an adjacent complex of monastery buildings belonging to the Order of Preachers. It was constructed in 1706 on the site of an earlier wooden structure from 1677, which was built to protect the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary. Today, the sanctuary is often referred to as the Sanctuary of the Queen of the Sulfur Basin and plays a significant role in the religious life of the region. The church, built in the Baroque style, features a three-nave structure surrounded by three-story monastery wings. Its interior is adorned with numerous altars, including the Altar of the Sacred Heart and the Altar of Divine Mercy. Beneath the church lies a crypt where members of the Tarnowski family, the founders of the church, are buried. The sanctuary has endured numerous historical upheavals, including major fires and wartime destruction. A fire in 1862 devastated a significant portion of the church, and further damage occurred during World War I. Throughout the centuries, the church has been led by various superiors, each of whom contributed to the development of its pastoral mission. An interesting detail is that the stained-glass window in the porch depicts the same image as the icon of Our Lady of Dzików. Additionally, the church is planned to serve as a station on the Tarnobrzeg Route of the Way of St. James. The image from the church is broadcast by local cable television networks, and the site remains a place of worship and pilgrimage for both the faithful and those interested in the history of the region.
