The Sanniki Commune, located in the Masovian Voivodeship within Gostynin County, serves as an urban-rural municipality with its administrative seat in the town of Sanniki. It was administratively part of the Płock Voivodeship between 1975 and 1998. According to demographic data, the commune's population has been declining—from 6,350 residents in 2012 to 5,997 in 2019. Historically, during the time of the Kingdom of Poland, Sanniki was part of Gostynin County in the Warsaw Governorate, and in 1870, Osmolin was incorporated into the commune. The commune covers an area of 94.57 km², of which 88% is agricultural land and 5% is forested. Sanniki represents 15.36% of the total area of Gostynin County. The commune includes several village administrative units, such as Aleksandrów, Brzezia, Lwówek, and Osmolin, reflecting its diverse settlement structure. Neighboring communes include Gąbin, Iłów, Kiernozia, Pacyna, and Słubice, highlighting local connections and potential interregional cooperation.
