Dźwierzuty is a rural municipality located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in Szczytno County, with its administrative seat in the village of Dźwierzuty. Covering an area of 263.35 km², the municipality is characterized by a high proportion of agricultural land (57%) and forests (25%). Historically, between 1975 and 1998, it belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship. Residents of the municipality primarily enjoy the charms of the local nature, which includes numerous rivers, such as the Babant and the Dźwierzucki Canal, as well as lakes, including Sasek Wielki and Rańskie. In 2004, the municipality was home to 6,710 people, and by 2019, this number had decreased to 6,492. The municipality is home to the Kulka Nature Reserve and two ecological sites that protect local ecosystems, such as wetlands and crane migration areas. Among the localities in the municipality, notable villages include Dąbrowa, Jabłonka, and Rańsk, as well as other smaller settlements. An interesting fact is the presence of the Babant River and Lake Białe natural and landscape complex, making this area attractive to nature lovers. Dźwierzuty borders other municipalities, including Barczewo and Pasym, which enhances its tourist appeal. With its local character, the municipality is an excellent place to observe the integration of humans with nature and the preservation of regional traditions.
