The Szypliszki Commune, also known as Šipliškės valsčius, is located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the Suwałki County. It boasts a rich history and an interesting demographic structure. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship, and before June 25, 1952, it was named Zaboryszki. The administrative seat of the commune is the town of Szypliszki. According to data from the end of 2017, the commune was inhabited by 3,925 people, indicating a slight population decrease compared to 2008, when 3,991 residents lived here. The commune covers an area of 156.55 km², of which 77% is agricultural land and 13% is forested. Szypliszki occupies 11.97% of the area of Suwałki County. The commune is divided into 40 village administrative units, such as Adamowizna, Becejły, and Żubryn, reflecting its diversity. An interesting fact is the commune's proximity to the border with Lithuania, which creates opportunities for cross-border cooperation and cultural exchange. Due to its location, Szypliszki also has tourism potential, attracting those interested in nature and local architecture, examples of which can be found both in traditional utility buildings and in the spatial development of the villages.
