Sidra is a rural commune located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within Sokółka County, with its administrative seat in the town of Sidra. From 1975 to 1998, the commune was part of the Białystok Voivodeship. In 2004, the population of the commune was 3,994, while by the end of 2019, it had decreased to 3,407. The commune covers an area of 173.96 km², of which 76% is agricultural land and 18% is forested. Sidra is known for its rich fauna and flora, making it an attractive destination for nature enthusiasts. The surrounding forests and wetlands are home to numerous protected species, such as cranes, white and black storks, woodpeckers, as well as beavers and various species of waterfowl. The commune features two reservoirs where diverse fish species can be found. The forests of Sidra are abundant in wild berries, including blueberries and raspberries, as well as various types of mushrooms. The commune comprises several village administrations, such as Bieniasze, Bierniki, Holiki, and Siekierka, as well as other key localities like Andrzejewo and Kalinówka. Sidra borders the communes of Dąbrowa Białostocka, Janów, Kuźnica, Nowy Dwór, and Sokółka, ensuring good connectivity.
