wikipedia
The Sieradz Commune, located in the Łódź Voivodeship within the Sieradz County, has its administrative seat in the town of Sieradz. In 2004, the commune was inhabited by 9,781 people. The history of the area dates back to before 1953 when three separate communes existed here: Bogumiłów, Charłupia Mała, and Męka. In 1953, the names of these communes were changed to Monice and Woźniki, which were then abolished in 1954 as a result of an administrative reform. The Sieradz Commune was reactivated on January 1, 1973. Until 1998, it belonged to the former Sieradz Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 181.63 km², of which 72% is agricultural land and 20% is forested land. It is home to the Półboru Nature Reserve, which protects unique forest communities of light oak wood (dąbrowa świetlista) and rare plant species. The Sieradz Commune comprises a number of village administrations (sołectwa), including Biskupice, Bobrowniki, Bogumiłów, and many others. Settlements without the status of a village administration include Mokre Zborowskie, Monice, and Okopy. Neighboring communes include, among others, Brzeźnio, Warta, Wróblew, and Zduńska Wola. The Sieradz Commune combines rich natural and cultural assets with a fascinating history, making it an interesting place to visit.
