The Silesian Fantasy Club (Śląski Klub Fantastyki, ŚKF) is one of the pioneering fantasy clubs in Poland, operating continuously since 1981 and based in Katowice. It was founded in a hall at the University of Silesia by a group of members from the Somnambul branch of the OKMFiSF, including Piotr Kasprowski, and was officially registered by the City of Katowice. Since 2004, the club has held the status of a public benefit organization and awards the prestigious Śląkfa prize in the field of fantasy, making it a significant part of Polish fandom. In the 1980s, ŚKF organized the Silcon convention and five Polcons, as well as annual Literary Seminars starting in 1993. It features thematic sections such as Tolkien studies, RPG, manga and anime, dance, LARP, literature, and graphics. Interestingly, ŚKF publishes various materials, including the "Miesięcznik" (Monthly) and Tolkien-related fanzines. Its members, including well-known authors, have had a significant impact on Polish fantasy culture. Currently, the club is chaired by Dorota Łanuszewska and has around 200 active members. They benefit from an extensive library collection that has been growing since the club's inception. Throughout its history, ŚKF has engaged in diverse activities promoting fantasy and integrating enthusiasts of the genre, establishing itself as an important cultural hub in the Upper Silesia region.
