The Silesian House Museum in Ziębice, established in 1931, operated until the end of 2022 as the Museum of Household Appliances, specializing in collections related to daily life. It offered unique exhibits such as irons, refrigerators, washing machines, as well as brass and copper vessels from various eras. In 1973, it gained the status of the only museum in Poland dedicated exclusively to household equipment. In 2023, the name was changed to the Silesian House Museum, which better reflects the scope of its collections. The museum is housed in the historic Town Hall of Ziębice, adding architectural value as the building is an important element of local cultural heritage.
The museum features various permanent exhibitions, including a collection of Silesian sacred sculpture, military weapons, paintings by Joseph Langer—a renowned local artist—and reconstructions of interiors such as a bourgeois kitchen and a Biedermeier-style living room. The museum showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region, emphasizing the significance of Silesian artistic craftsmanship, painting, and ethnographic traditions. An added value lies in its extensive art collections, encompassing sculptures and paintings from the 15th to the 20th century, making the museum an important landmark on the cultural map of Lower Silesia.
An interesting fact is that the collection of irons, spanning four centuries, is one of the museum's most exceptional exhibits, brilliantly illustrating the evolution of utilitarian technology over the ages. The museum is not only a treasury of local history but also an important center promoting cultural and historical awareness among the residents of Ziębice and visitors alike.
