Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice is a renowned public technical university, consistently achieving high positions in national and international rankings. It was formally established in 1945 as a result of efforts to create a higher technical education institution in Silesia. Its history dates back to the 1920s, when the first steps toward its founding were taken. Initially, the university was located in Katowice, but due to a lack of adequate facilities and support from local authorities, it was relocated to Gliwice, a move confirmed in 1946. Architecturally, the university boasts modern buildings that have been expanded over the years, including lecture halls and faculty buildings situated near picturesque parks. The university offers a wide range of technical programs across 14 faculties, with a strong emphasis on modern technologies and innovation. In the cultural sphere, it supports student development by organizing various events such as juwenalia (student festivals), artistic festivals, and student theater activities. Interestingly, many faculty members and students have established additional associations and foundations dedicated to the university and its growth. The Silesian University of Technology also demonstrates dynamic growth in research activities and industrial collaboration, underscoring its importance both regionally and nationally.
