The Skrwilno Commune, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship within Rypin County, boasts a rich history dating back to 1867, when it was established in Rypin County within the Płock Governorate. During the interwar period, the Skrwilno Commune had its seat in Szczutowo, and in 1933, it was divided into 16 village clusters (gromady). In 1938, the commune was transferred to the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The period of World War II brought many changes, including the incorporation of the commune into the occupied Reich and the assignment of the German name Reselerwalde. After the war, the commune was reactivated in 1973. Skrwilno Commune covers an area of 124.35 km², with its land structure consisting of 66% agricultural land and 25% forested areas, highlighting its rural character. Within its territory lies the Okalewo Nature Reserve, which protects a valuable forest. In terms of architecture, the commune stands out with its historic buildings, such as the palace complex in Okalewo, featuring a palace from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and a park dating back to the early 19th century. Another valuable monument is the church complex of the St. Anne Parish in Skrwilno, whose 1852 church and belfry are important cultural landmarks. Among the natural and architectural monuments, the 19th-century manor park in Skrwilno is also worth mentioning. According to data from December 2019, the commune is inhabited by 5,845 people, and its demographics and age structure are of interest to the local community. It is also noteworthy that the commune comprises numerous village councils (sołectwa) as well as non-council settlements, reflecting its diverse social structure.
