wikipedia
Sławatycze is a rural commune located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Biała Podlaska County. Its center, Sławatycze, stands out for being the most peripherally located in relation to the county seat in the region, situated 50 km away from Biała Podlaska. An interesting feature is the border crossing with Belarus, which gives the commune strategic importance. The history of the commune dates back to the Partitions of Poland; after the Third Partition in 1795, it became part of the Austrian Partition and later underwent various administrative transformations, including incorporation into the Duchy of Warsaw and belonging to the Chełm Governorate. During the interwar period, the commune was part of the Lublin Voivodeship and consisted of 14 localities. After World War II, the commune was part of Włodawa County until the administrative reform of 1975. The commune's land structure shows that 83% of the area is agricultural land, while 8% is forested. In 2004, the commune had a population of 2,608, and its demographics indicate specific age groups and settlements, such as Jabłeczna, Krzywowólka, and Sławatycze-Kolonia. An interesting fact is the commune's proximity to the border with Belarus and its administrative history, which reflects the political and social changes in the region. The commune borders Hanna, Kodenek, and Tuczna, and across the Bug River, it borders the Brest District of Belarus. Sławatycze, as a place with a rich history, offers not only beautiful landscapes but also a complex social and cultural structure.
