Śmicz is a village located in the Opole Voivodeship, in Prudnik County, within the municipality of Biała, boasting a rich history and interesting architecture. The first mentions of the locality date back to 1223, and over the centuries the village has been associated with the Kazimierz parish and the Dominican monastery in Wrocław. The village was known for its agricultural activity, and the high quality of the soil favored good harvests. An important architectural landmark is the parish church of St. Catherine, dating from the 18th century, which was rebuilt in 1839 and decorated with polychromes by F. Sebastini. Śmicz also has historic rectory outbuildings and several chapels. In the village, there is a monument commemorating the residents who died during World War I and World War II, as well as a newly unveiled monument to the 800th anniversary of Śmicz. The village's culture is enriched by the activities of the German Circle of Friendship, the Association of Friends of Śmicz, and the Youth Brass Band. The inhabitants use the Prudnik dialect, and the community includes a German minority. Many services, including a shop and a bakery, as well as an operating primary school, contribute to local life.
