The commune of Sobienie-Jeziory is a picturesque administrative unit located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Otwock County. Its seat is in the town of Sobienie-Jeziory. Until 1998, the commune was part of the Siedlce Voivodeship, reflecting its historical administrative changes. The commune covers an area of 97.68 km², of which 65% is agricultural land and 18% is forested. It is also home to 27 auxiliary units, including 25 village councils (sołectwa) and 2 forest settlements, such as Potok and Zuzanów. The western part of the commune features fertile soils, while the eastern part has poorer soil conditions, leading to increasing urbanization in these areas. According to demographic data, at the end of 2012, the commune had a population of 6,332 residents. Sobienie-Jeziory is also known for its active involvement in fire protection, with 6 volunteer fire departments playing a crucial role in the local community.
