Until 1998, the commune was part of the Siedlce Voivodeship, reflecting its historical administrative changes. The commune covers an area of 97.68 km², of which 65% is agricultural land and 18% is forested. It is also home to 27 auxiliary units, including 25 village councils (sołectwa) and 2 forest settlements, such as Potok and Zuzanów.
