Sochocin is an urban-rural municipality located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within Płońsk County, with its administrative seat in the town of Sochocin. The granting of town rights to Sochocin on January 1, 2021, marked the change in the municipality's status from rural to urban-rural. The history of Sochocin dates back to before 1870, when it was part of the Smardzewo municipality. The municipality covers an area of 119.67 km², of which approximately 67% is agricultural land and 27% is forested, reflecting its agrarian character. According to data from June 30, 2004, Sochocin was inhabited by 5,766 people, and the demographic structure shows a diverse age pyramid. The municipality consists of numerous villages, including Baraki, Biele, Gutarzewo, Milewo, and many others, highlighting its diversity and the richness of local communities.
