Sompolno

Sompolno, formerly known as the Lubstów Commune, is an urban-rural municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, within the Konin County, with its seat located in Sompolno itself. The municipality covers an area of 137.36 km², of which 72% is agricultural land and 11% is forested. Between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Konin Voivodeship. In 2011, the municipality had a population of 10,553, with 64.8% residing in rural areas. The dominant demographic group in the municipality is men, while the rural population percentage remains at around 65%. The municipality is home to numerous primary schools, including those in Mąkolno, Marianowo, Sompolno, and Lubstów, reflecting a well-developed educational system. Several Volunteer Fire Departments operate within the municipality, highlighting local activity and residents' commitment to safety. The area also hosts many Rural Housewives' Circles, which preserve local traditions and customs, such as the Circle in Lubstówek or the Association for the Development of the Village of Sycewo, demonstrating a strong local community with a keen interest in cultural and developmental matters.
