Sosnówka, formerly known as the Romanów commune, is a rural municipality located in the Lublin Voivodeship, within Biała Podlaska County. Its administrative seat is the village of Sosnówka, and according to 2004 data, the commune had a population of 2,791. The municipality covers an area of 148.43 km², of which 66% is agricultural land and 28% is forested.
The region is rich in history, dating back to the era of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, when the area of the present-day commune was part of the Brześć Litewski Voivodeship. During the partitions of Poland, the commune was incorporated into various districts and governorates, including the Austrian Partition and the Duchy of Warsaw. Administrative changes continued to influence its affiliation until 1999, when it was incorporated into Biała Podlaska County in the Lublin Voivodeship.
The commune consists of numerous village administrations (sołectwa), such as Czeputka, Dębów, Lipinki, Motwica, and others, as well as the settlement of Zawyhary. It is worth noting that Sosnówka and its surroundings are rich in traditions that reflect the local culture. The natural environment, dominated by forests and farmland, also forms an essential part of the commune's identity.
