The Church of St. George and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Miasteczko Śląskie is a historic Catholic temple, part of the Żyglin deanery in the Diocese of Gliwice. Built in 1666, the church was consecrated on May 8, 1670. Until 1914, it belonged to the parish in Żyglin. An interesting fact is that in 1883, a neo-Gothic altar was added to the interior, and the building was restored in 1927 and 1955–56. Next to the church stands a belfry, also dating back to 1666, whose architecture integrates with the temple’s fence, serving as a gate. Within the church enclosure, there is also an 18th-century chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, highlighting the historical significance of this site. A cemetery once surrounded the church and was in use until 1815. The architecture of the temple is typical for the region, featuring a log structure on a stone foundation. The nave has an almost square layout, while the narrower chancel is polygonal. The bell tower, attached to the nave, is built in a post-and-beam structure, and the roofs are covered with wood shingles. The interior is adorned with decorative brackets, and the rood beam bears the construction year and the names of the founders. It is also worth noting that a small turret with a bell is mounted on the roof above the nave. Adjacent to the wooden church stands a new, brick, neo-Gothic parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built between 1905 and 1908 according to a design by Oskar Hossfeld. Both churches are part of the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesian Voivodeship and the Century of Tourism Route, underscoring their cultural and touristic importance to the region.
