The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is located in Kromołów, a district of Zawiercie, at the source of the Warta River. It was built in 1803 as the third structure on this site, following a previous chapel that burned down in a fire in 1790. In 1988, due to the raising of street levels, the chapel was dismantled, elevated by one meter, and then reconstructed in its original form. The building features an octagonal brick structure with a roof covered in sheet metal and a small spire topped with a cross. The interior of the chapel is modestly decorated; the altar holds a painting of Saint Thecla, flanked by figurines of Saint Hyacinth and Saint John of Nepomuk. Culturally, the chapel serves as a local landmark for the residents of Kromołów, and its history is woven into the region's heritage. The historical value of the site is underscored by its reconstruction after destruction and adaptations due to natural conditions, such as the flooding of the Warta River in 1912 and 1966. Interestingly, during these floods, the Warta rose to half the height of the nearby houses, highlighting the potential risks associated with its location. Although the chapel remains closed on a daily basis, it is an important element of Kromołów's cultural landscape and serves as a reminder of historical events and local traditions.
