wikipedia
The Church of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker in Koźliki is an Orthodox filial church belonging to the Parish of the Ascension of the Lord in Klejniki, within the Narew Deanery of the Warsaw-Bielsk Diocese of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. It was originally built in the 18th century in Wieżanka and later moved in 1834 to Klejniki, where it served as the parish church. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was relocated again to its current location. In the second half of the 20th century, after the Narew River changed its course, protective works were carried out to reinforce both the riverbank and the foundations of the church. Between 2013 and 2016, a major renovation took place, which included replacing parts of the walls, all the cladding and roofing, as well as strengthening the foundations. The church was raised by 70 cm, and the surrounding area was landscaped. After the renovation was completed, the church was consecrated on August 14, 2016, by Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland. Architecturally, the church features an elongated octagonal plan, is made of wood, and built using log construction. It has a narthex at the front and a square-plan tower with a tented roof and a spherical spire. The roof over the nave is a single-ridge design, while the narthex has a gable roof. After the renovation, the church gained a new brick fence with a metal gate. It is also worth noting that the church was entered into the register of historical monuments on December 30, 1987, under number 674. Interestingly, despite its transformations and relocations, the church continues to play an important role in the local community, serving as a place of worship and preserving Orthodox traditions in the region.
