wikipedia
The Church of Saint Stanislaus in Dąbrowa Białostocka is a Roman Catholic temple belonging to the Dąbrowa Białostocka Deanery in the Archdiocese of Białystok. It was built between 1897 and 1902 in the Neo-Gothic style and consecrated in 1905 by the Bishop of Vilnius, Edward von Ropp. The previous wooden church was dismantled due to the congregation's fear that the new church might be handed over to Orthodox nuns, which serves as an example of the local community's commitment to preserving its own religious traditions. During the interwar period, the interior of the church was renovated, and two new altars were built, highlighting its cultural significance to the local society. The church not only serves religious functions but also stands as an important element of the cultural and social identity of the residents. In March 2020, the church found itself at the center of controversy when, during a Sunday service, the police intervened due to a breach of quarantine rules, sparking public and national media debates. This event was one of the two most scandalous cases of sanitary regulation violations in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, illustrating the tensions between religious traditions and new health norms. The Church of Saint Stanislaus in Dąbrowa Białostocka undoubtedly remains not only a place of worship but also a symbol of local values and traditions in challenging times.
