Stara Dąbrowa is a rural municipality located in the northern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Stargard County. With its administrative seat in the village of Stara Dąbrowa, the municipality covers an area of 112.59 km², which constitutes 7.4% of the total area of the county. Established in 1954, it was previously known as the Dąbrowa municipality. As of the end of 2009, the population was 3,602, accounting for 3.0% of the county's inhabitants. The municipality is picturesquely situated on the Nowogardzka Plain and is traversed by the Krąpiel River, popular among water sports enthusiasts for its kayaking opportunities. Forests, primarily located near the village of Chlebówko, cover 9% of the area, while agricultural land makes up 81%. The area also features historical railway connections built in the 19th century, including a narrow-gauge railway section from Stargard to Dobra Nowogardzka. A branch to Ińsko also once operated, though these lines were eventually closed and dismantled in subsequent decades. In terms of transportation, the municipality is well-connected, with two provincial roads linking Stara Dąbrowa to nearby towns. It has one post office, and in 2016, its administration reported budget expenditures of 18.6 million PLN and revenues of 17.6 million PLN. Stara Dąbrowa comprises 13 village districts (sołectwa), including Białuń, Chlebowo, Kicko, and Tolcz, as well as hamlets and colonies that form the local community. With its rich history and natural attractions, the municipality is an appealing destination for both residents and tourists.
