wikipedia
Boguszowice Stare, also known as Boguschowitz, is a district of Rybnik with a history dating back to the 13th century. The name of the town is derived from its presumed founder, Bogusz. In the 13th century, the village was established under Polish law, but in the 17th century, it transitioned to German law. It was the seat of a parish belonging to the Żory archpresbyterate, and a church stood there as early as the beginning of the 14th century. Over the centuries, Boguszowice witnessed many significant events, such as the struggles between Casimir the Great and John of Luxembourg. Despite unfavorable soil conditions and a low population in the 15th and 16th centuries, the town began to develop in connection with the metallurgical and mining industries. By 1906, it had 1,028 inhabitants, and by 1975, after integrating with Kłokocin and Gotartowice, it exceeded 19,000. The historic architecture of Boguszowice included a wooden church from the late 13th century, which was replaced by a new temple in 1935. The activity of local communities is also associated with a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. A school has existed in Boguszowice since 1652, and the community has developed through education, with new school buildings constructed over the years. In the 20th century, numerous construction investments were carried out, including the creation of roads, water supply systems, and the modernization of old houses. The cradle of local sports is the Górnik Boguszowice Sports Club, which competed in the fourth league. The history of Boguszowice is rich in turmoil, from post-war decline to significant population growth, making this district an interesting place on the map of Rybnik, combining historical heritage with modern development.
