The rural commune of Stargard, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship within Stargard County, consists of two parts separated by the city of Stargard, which is a separate urban municipality. The commune covers an area of 318.88 km², accounting for 21% of the county's area, and is home to approximately 33% of its population. Its geographical landscape includes the Pyrzyce and Nowogard Plains, while the eastern part is rich in rivers, such as the Ina and its tributaries. The area of the commune is diverse in terms of nature, with lakes and forested areas occupying 12% of its territory. Stargard is known for its rich history, dating back to the Neolithic period, and the commune was once associated with the Knights Hospitaller, who owned lands in many localities. Among the architectural monuments, the stone church of St. Peter and Paul in Grzędzice, with unique 15th-century polychromes, and the 12th-century castle in Pęzino, which has undergone numerous renovations, stand out.
