Starogard Gdański is a rural municipality located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Starogard County, with its seat in the town of Starogard Gdański. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Gdańsk Voivodeship. The municipality comprises 27 village districts (sołectw), including settlements such as Barchnowy, Ciecholewy, Jabłowo, and Żabno. In 2004, the population of the municipality was 13,193, and its area covers 196.16 km², of which 61% is agricultural land and 28% is forested. The municipality constitutes 14.58% of the total area of Starogard County.
