wikipedia
Steblów, located in the Opole Voivodeship, in Krapkowice County, is a village with a rich history dating back to the 13th century, when it was mentioned in documents as Styblow. The name of the locality derives from the personal name "Stebel" and was given to the village on November 12, 1946. In the past, Steblów was part of various administrative units, including the Habsburg Monarchy and the Kingdom of Prussia. The village was once the seat of the Dobra parish, and a large part of its inhabitants spoke Polish. During World War II, there was a prisoner-of-war camp here, and in 1945 the village witnessed intense fighting. The architecture of Steblów includes landmarks such as a cemetery, a school, chapels, and houses with features typical of the region. The village is home to the Stowarzyszeniowa Publiczna Szkoła Podstawowa (Association Public Primary School), a public library, and a Volunteer Fire Department. Steblów is known for its German minority and Silesians, and the inhabitants speak the Prudnik dialect. The village's transport is based on provincial roads and a disused railway stop. Significant development of road transport took place after the establishment of companies serving local communication. The Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK) operates in the region, promoting tourism by organizing routes, including as part of the European Cycling Tourism Week. Interestingly, the village lies in a border zone, which entails additional competencies for the Border Guard. Steblów, with its numerous traditions and interesting cultural heritage, continues to attract the attention of residents and tourists.
