The Stegna Commune, located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship within the Nowy Dwór Gdański County, consists of 25 village councils (sołectw), with its administrative seat situated in the town of Stegna. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune belonged to the Elbląg Voivodeship. Covering an area of 169.57 km², over 72% of its land is agricultural, while 10% is forested. The commune makes up 25.98% of the total area of Nowy Dwór Gdański County. In 2007, the population was 9,554, and by 2019, it had grown to 9,749 residents. The commune is home to a private multifunctional landing site, which was launched in 2013. Stegna boasts rich natural resources, including protected areas such as the Vistula Spit Landscape Park, the Mewia Łacha Nature Reserve, and Natura 2000 sites, highlighting its natural beauty and ecological value. It borders the Baltic Sea and the communes of Cedry Wielkie, Gdańsk, and Sztutowo, making it an attractive destination for tourists. The area also features numerous natural monuments, which form an important part of its ecological heritage. An interesting aspect is the diversity of non-administrative villages that enrich the local culture and history of the region.
