The municipality of Kije, formerly known as the municipality of Kliszów until 1954, is located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Pińczów County. The administrative seat of the municipality is the village of Kije. Between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Kielce Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the municipality was home to 4,643 residents. It covers an area of 99.26 km², of which 70% is agricultural land and 19% is forested, highlighting its rural and agricultural character. The municipality of Kije occupies 16.23% of the total area of Pińczów County. It includes numerous villages, such as Borczyn, Czechów, Gartatowice, Gołuchów, and many others, reflecting its rural nature and vibrant local community life. In terms of architecture and culture, the area blends rural traditions with local folklore. Historically, the municipality of Kije is tied to the region's past, which is known for its beautiful landscapes and picturesque villages.
