Stolno

The rural commune of Stolno, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Chełmno County, boasts a rich architectural and historical heritage. Its administrative seat is the village of Stolno, and as of June 30, 2004, it was home to 5,201 residents. The commune covers an area of 98.43 km², with agricultural land accounting for 79% of its territory, highlighting its rural character. Notable registered heritage sites include 19th-century manor parks and the palace complex in Grubno, which features a palace dating back to 1870 and a park from the first half of the 19th century. Another valuable landmark is the 14th-century parish church of St. Martin in Sarnów, as well as the Church of St. Bartholomew in Wabcz, which dates back to the early 14th century. The commune also includes fortifications from the period 1903–1914 in Małe Czyste, Rybieniec, and Stolno, reflecting its military history. Historical structures such as infantry and ammunition shelters demonstrate the region’s significance in the past. Stolno is surrounded by the neighboring communes of Chełmno, Grudziądz, and Lisewo, making it an important hub in the local culture and economy. The commune also includes several village administrative units (sołectwa), each with its own unique characteristics, as well as non-administrative villages such as Zalesie and Nałęcz.
