Stopnica is an urban-rural municipality located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Busko County, with the town of Stopnica serving as its administrative seat. The municipality was established in 1998; previously, from 1975 to 1998, it belonged to the Kielce Voivodeship. At the end of 2010, the municipality had a population of 7,697 and covered an area of 125.96 km². A significant portion of the municipality's area, as much as 83%, is occupied by agricultural land, while 9% is forested. In terms of demographics, it is worth noting that the age structure of the municipality's residents was illustrated using a population pyramid in 2014. Stopnica Municipality features a diverse settlement structure, consisting of 32 settlements organized into 30 village councils. Financially, in 2010, the municipal budget recorded revenues of 2,888.52 PLN per capita and expenditures of 3,184.29 PLN.
