wikipedia
The Strykowo Palace, also known as the von Treskow Castle, is a historic residence located in the village of Strykowo in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. It was built in 1900 for Hans von Treskow. The palace is distinguished by its unique architectural style, being a "palace-castle" that references fortified residences, combining Neo-Gothic elements with Art Nouveau decorations. The structure consists of multiple interconnected blocks, with a massive tower as its central feature, dominating the entire complex. The von Treskow family coat of arms, placed above the main entrance, attests to its historical significance. After World War II, the palace fell into disrepair but was renovated in 2004. It is currently privately owned and serves as a restaurant and hotel, attracting tourists and history enthusiasts. The palace is surrounded by a picturesque 10-hectare park, home to 500-year-old oak trees recognized as natural monuments. Strykowo and its palace are an important part of local culture and history, drawing attention not only for their architecture but also for the natural beauty of the surroundings. Interestingly, despite its fortified appearance, the palace never served a defensive purpose; its architecture was solely intended to express the status of its former owner.
