wikipedia
Strzałków is a village located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Radomsko County, with a rich history dating back to the Neolithic era. First mentioned in 1367, the village was successively owned by various proprietors, and after 1404, it came into the hands of Leonard Strzałkowski, who funded the first church. Strzałków was home to many church hierarchs and noble families, which influenced its cultural and architectural development. After World War II, many valuable buildings were destroyed, including during a fire in 1957 when 57 buildings burned down. The village is home to the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 16th century, rebuilt in the 18th century, with stunning frescoes and historic altars, as well as a palace park with remnants of remarkable trees, including the Siemiradzki Linden. The palace, originally wooden, was rebuilt multiple times and now stands abandoned, yet it still evokes the grandeur of bygone years. In the 19th century, Strzałków attracted prominent artists such as Henryk Siemiradzki, as well as writers, including Henryk Sienkiewicz. The village witnessed many historical events, including independence movements, and its residents, such as Roman Rypson and Ksawery Święcicki, played significant roles in the struggles for freedom. Strzałków also features a cholera cemetery from the mid-19th century and unique ecological sites. Today, the village strives to preserve its heritage in terms of history and architecture, even though many traditional elements of its built environment have been lost.
